My 427, last year ran a best of 10.22 @131 before the cam pin broke. The cam was originally designed and ran in a 408, then put in the 427. I had Bullet cams design and cut one specifically for the 427. My best guess it was around 620 fwhp. I'm hoping with this new cam it will be around 650ish. Hoping to bump into the high 9's.

I did a 438 for a guy. Not a 'Max' effort deal though, to be fair. Dart alum. block & Pro-Topline heads (220 cc, I think they were...). Uses the 'Small' header pattern with 1 5/8" stepped to 1 3/4" headers. 660 HP on pump gas. 570 or 580 TQ. I think it was...

I am currently trying to finish my 440" windsor with TEA R heads and a clucthless 5 speed...do not have dyno #'s but with a glide in it and the car set up for nitrous I went 9.60'S....has aluminum rods, 16.1 com. and a 2924 intake.......I just changed the cam and it isn't all out....this is just a toy and to have a little fun.......can't afford to run with all these guys, Bob Hanlons car is my favorite!

Chris,

Could we hear some info and details on your SBF you ran in ProStock?

Mine was a 8.2 deck 358, made 830 at 9200 on bischoffs dyno, back in 2006. Ran a best of 8.80's at 2825 which was fast back then for Pro Stock. Didn't have enough smoke for the Pontiac or the BBC at the time though.

4.200 bore
3.26 stroke
IRL rod journal.

Victor Glidden heads, 2.200 x 1.550.

Old school super victor intake.

This is what is going together for my wagon
Fordstrokers 418 0 balance
Duane Busch Ported Canfields 221CC with a 2.08 intake valve
Duane Busch ported super vic
4150 throttle body
10.7 C/R
CI cam 303/320 .633"/.629"
Accufab 1 7/8" longtubes
3 1/2" exhaust
No idea what it will make, or what it will run yet, still a ways from having it together, but it is going into this ;)

BTW, not implying my set up is "bad ass", it should be a fun driver that I can go anywhere with, but still goes pretty hard.

Would really like to Curtis, to be honest. But don't have a bunch of faster, hard core S.B.Ford N/A guys around my area to pick from, to do one for. More power adder guys. I'm doing a 4.6L 4 cam, 4 valve Mod motor right now with an 88mm turbo for a guy.

Do you guys think the inline wedge SBF head can outpower and out accelarate down the track, over the cleveland style cantered valve head, like the CHI 3V stuff...

The reason i ask is over here in Oz almost everyone builds a Cleveland style engine (CHI and AFD heads are very popular) and 8 out of 10 engines wont show the power on the track....You guys build bad ass inline wedge that get the job done

Should have just kept it and developed it.... never really did any development work with it.... just threw it together.

Would have been nice to develop the cam, heads, and maybe figure out a different intake manifold for it and just keep plugging along but.... NOOOO.... I like to change things LOL

what do you guys think about a 430ish inch neal headed single cast intake engine with pretty low compression like 12 to 1 making 836hp and 641ft lbs? it is pretty much a nos engine but i was pretty happy with the #s and i dont have anything to compare to around here.

Thats not bad. I know of a guy who makes around 900+ with Neal heads, sheetmetal, and 2 carbs. He runs pretty good too.

all I can say if you are looking to make good power with a inline head go with the proking heads as you know my new 406ci windsor made over 800hp at 7500RPM and on our first big meeting at calder park car went 9.0 on the brakes

Shameless Cleveland plug-

4.125 x 3.34 - 358
B351 heads (early 80's cleveland high-port)
Roush single w/a 950
4000 lb F150 4x4 shifted at 8000
14:1 comp, .700 roller

Track was 300' sand. Ran FASTER than the 12:1 514 BBF's and BBC I was racing in trucks of the same weight. Times don't mean anything, unless you also race sand.

I assembled this motor in my garage with mostly used parts. Never dyno'd, but it was making power from the slips.

Clevelands rule
