Hi guys. I was just wondering on what your opinions would be for
a good head gasket to use on a N/A 347 with Victor JR.'s
I had fel-pro 1011-1 gaskets on there and when I pulled the heads
off to refreshen them I found some spots around the cylinder rings
on the gaskets were there was evidence of blow by. The CR is
13.1 and the engine see's 7400 rpm. I've been leaning towards
the fel-pro multi layer steel gaskets. Any info would be helpful.
Thanks

Ive used Fel Pro 9333 PT1's on numerous engines and on my 12.7cr 418 with no problems plus they are only like $24. They are a Graphite gasket which i believe lets the head "move" around easier as ive seen some shearing on the 1011-1 @-2's jmo.

Thanks guys, I put the heads on using fel-pro multi layed
steel gaskets. I heard of the heads moving before. I wonder if this
is why I saw the blow by past the ring seals.

The gaskets you had did not allow the head and block surface to move in a parellel yet linear fashion. That is exactly what the MLS is designed to do. It is designed for Dissimiliar metal sealing. Not to mention they are unbellievable tough.

I prefer SCE ICS Titan copper gaskets... no orings required with these. They don't groove the head up like a MLS gasket will if you have any detonation.

Yea I thought about cometics and the copper head gaskets. The engine is gonna stay n/a for now so detonation shouldn'tbe an issue ( I hope ). Got the engine back together and justfinished installing a complete UPR front end. Hopefully will be back out at the track just in time for the middle of summer Virginia heat:smt041
