I am goin to be building a SBF 427 big bore 351 very soon and was woundering if any of you guys are running a external wet sump setup on your motors? My best friend races off road trucks and runs a 351 based motor that is limited to a normal wet sump oil pump and we have noticed that the oil pump drive shaft has a ton of stress and ware on it and after one time a shaft had a crack in it right where it slips over the oil pump shaft "ARP shaft". Now his truck is wide open the whole time its running and i have never had a problem with any of mine but seems scary. He was telling me an external wet sump is the way to go but i have zero experience with these, would they work well on a street/strip car that is goin to be driven almost 5 days a week? Also seem kinda high i think the Moroso SBF pump is like $600!
