im putting a 383 that was originally balanced with a flywheel in my chevelle that has a th400 my question is what do i have to do to the flexplate since it is alot lighter then the flywheel to keep the engine properly balanced? thanks for any help

You just need to make sure the flexplate has the same imbalance.... was the last one balanced with a externally balanced flexplate that WASN'T drilled to balance it?

Rather than guess, take the 2 flywheels to your local engine shop to have the flexplate matched to the original flywheel. Sometimes it's tough to tell what the correction really was, especially when they use a factory manual flywheel that may or may not have had a bunch of holes in it originally.
