No sense in beating around the bush ;)

It is a new build sitting on the stand but never fired.
The converter is an untested piece as well. Its supposed to be 4800-5200. Actual car weight should be closer to 3200lbs with my fat ass on board.

Thanks!

.020"/.022" lash

With correct clearances, keep the valve train stable with a stud girdle or shaft mounts and your close to the 10.0 mark in that combo. That combo as cast will run 10's and should sixty foot high 1.3's to low 1.4's

3 spd ? or pg ... titanium valves or steel
Th400 with steel valves. This is a street more strip orientated setup. 7500 rpm would be theoretical max rpm give or take a few 100.

Thanks!

Oooof............the cam posted above is WAY too long for your combo!!! Do not put a 278 @ .050 lobe in a 357 and expect it to move a 3400lb beast to 330'. It isn't going to happen!!!

I am 272° at .050 on a 402" 23° head deal and it peaks at 8100-8200. Beware of what you read on the net dude.......especially from guys that don't even race!!!

I agree. It was disregarded.

The cam that's currently installed in the motor is 266/274 @.050 -.640/.640-108.

Its what I had sitting collecting dust so I stabbed it in. I am now questioning it before the motor gets installed.

Thanks!

Are you looking for a off of the shelf grind cam or a custom? Also what do you have for valve springs on these heads?

If an off the shelf grind fits that works for me but a custom deal is fine too.
Springs are Comp 954, they lists them as 210 @ 1.90/ 524 @ 1.25 coil bind 1.17. They are setup @ 1.90 with a Ti retainer.

Thanks!

James all Jake knows is what he paid for on this engine, and his first 400 engine he built which used a much lazier 276/284 @.050" 50140 Lunati (8° to 10° less @.200" than most modern lobes) that he was told not to use, and told that it wouldn't make power over 6800rpm, and it didn't, to top thing off he checked piston to valve clearance on one cylinder, even though he has a V8.

Hell look at the way Jake aligned his T&D Shaft Rockers off the valve tips (Which any builder could have done better) although better than most people would do
Yes offset on both.......I think it is .250Intake/.120Exhaust. For some reason, I can't remember if it is .080 exhaust or .120. I am ???pretty sure??? it is .120 though.
These pics are off my last 400. I am using Crower stainless now. These are going on my wife's 383.

I would take my chances on the correct grind falling out of the sky over what Jake suggests.

Jake your grind, or anything close to your grind WILL NOT WORK on his combo unless he has the same intake tract you do. Since he doesn't, he needs a little more duration to help the heads feed the cubic inches so it doesn't choke.

Ported heads, SHP Block, and solid roller with shaft mounts and you made 600hp, 70hp more than we backed up with ET's using a stock block, stock crank, stock heads, and a flat tappet camshaft. I understand why your upset little buddy
