Fellow on here who goes by the screen name thesource. He is from San Antonio. Might want to PM him.
I live on the south east side but what did you want to know specifically?
Craig65 is also from san Antonio, he should be able to answer any questions you have
Good neighborhoods for family, and dragstrips....
I also live in SATX, I'm in the NE side of town. What would you like to know?
SAR, San antonio raceway is the local track, http://www.sanantonioraceway.com/
SATX is great for family, i.e Sea World, 6 Flags, River Walk, depending on where you live, New Braunfels (18mi from my house) has Schlitterbahn water park, http://schlitterbahn.com/ and the wildlife park http://wildliferanchtexas.com/ North Side ISD is the largest school district in SATX.
Plenty of performance shops to meet your needs
Biggest thing for me is a safe neighborhood, and a good school district.
I also live in San Antonio, Northwest side. What kind of work do you do?
Do Not pee on the Alamo. We get real pissy about that. Ask Ozzy LOL

Engineer. Setting up testing of diesel engines.
I'm on the NW side... You can PM me for any details that you might want to know

You will think you have died and gone to heaven coming from where you are at now.

Also, they won't have to give you a raise, the cost of living is so much less, you'll think you must have forgotten to pay some of your bills at the end of the month.
EVER GO N HOUSTON RACE WAY PARK OR HMP PM ME. IM 5 MIN AWAY.
I have a cousin who is a software engineer and lives in the NW and loves it. I have a friend who lives on the south side by South Park mall and he doesn't love it so much lol. Like anywhere else if you've got a good income you'll live well but as they said the $$ goes along way down there.

Lots of good mexican food. Neighborhoods will vary depending on price of housing and so will school districts. San Antonio Raceway is about 45 minutes from that side of town and a straight shot down I10 through down town and out to the far east side.

How old are your children?
One boy 4 years old.

I am wanting to get outside of the city, will probably spend the first couple of months down their without the family and try and get things scoped out, just wanted some ideas before I headed down and started checking the area out.

Are you going to work for SW Research or what? If you want to get out of town, I don't blame you a bit. Property on the North side of town is typically higher than on other parts of town. There are some nice places 8-10 miles outside of the city. I live about 15 miles south east of San Antonio and its just far enough to keep the city ghetto trash out of our area but close enough to go to town anytime we need to.

I would check out the Medina Lake area or maybe even Castroville if you want to be on that side of town.
Boerne and Comfort are nice as well if you don't mind a little longer commute.
