I/WE are building my first 440 and I just got some H-beam rods for it yesterday. I went with some decent 7.100 long rods because I am using a short piston and offset ground crank with 2.20 (BBC Chevy) pins.

I open the box and everything looks great except I can't see a parting line AT ALL on the caps. The 7/16" ARP 2000 bolts are already installed and torqued down. Is this normal? This is my first set of H-beams and I have only seen stock rods and aluminum rods up to this point.

Thanks.

I have a set of s/b Lunati Pro Mod (I-beam) rods and once clamped together, the parting line seems to disappear. I wouldn't sweat it.

Second the rod vise purchase.

Used two blocks of wood in a vise at work and untorqued one cap and there is the line! Crazy how it completely disappeared when torqued. I am not breaking the others loose, I'll let the machine shop do it when they balance everything. Thanks for the link on the rod vise, Jim!
