Sadly, far too close to the truth. This is another reason class rules (or their interpretation) get fucked up.
Less than a month to the event, no rules, people make their reservations. Then the rules are posted, oh no, my car's not legal, ring, ring, ring, call the track, "you guys gotta let me race my car, I all ready made my reservations, besides its legal at my local track . . ." (unspoken: to appease sponsors and keep up car counts up). So the track feels bad and twists the rules "just this once", then someone else comes with the same thing next year, or something just slightly more over the edge . . . . the destruction of a heads-up class.
