81 camaro 3600# 355, flat tops, 200cc procomp alum heads, rpm air gap, 700 dp, th350 with a 3500 stall, 3:42 gear. car went 13:40's last year. have since put 4:10's in and think it will dip in the 12's. this is a buddys car. motor has a lunati vodoo hyd cam 489/504 lift 227/233 @50 dur with 1.5 rockers. 1800-6200. i would like him to put a 525/525 lift 248/248 dur comp solid in it, but moneys tight at the moment. and he's only 18 and still in school.anyway, my question is, will a 1.6 rocker help this combo?

Theres not a definet yes or no answer it the motor wants more valve lift and Tue induction system can provide the air then maybe .. don't expect huge gainsif any by a rocker change

Being a low compression 350 I bet it would respond to even more gearing than 4.10's. What is the current shift point(s) and has he tried higher and lower points? What size tire?

thats my thinking with the rocker change, (no improvement). thats why i want him to step up to the comp 525 solid. do you guys see any gain there?shift point is 6000. weve tried 5800 and 6200 with no difference. tires are 26x9

I've had great luck/been impressed by the Comp tight lash series solids, ran a 276TL-6 in a zero budget 355, smogger heads cut for 2.02's and ported, 10:1 comp, same intake, 750 carb, 3.42 gears, 4500 stall. It signed off at 6000 and ran 13.0's at 2200' elevation, car was roughly 3700 w/driver. The magnum solids are pretty gentle cams, the Tight lash would give you better performance. Don't forget the EDM oiling lifters....

4.10's are the right choice for a short tire.

i dont have all of the specs off hand( i will get them) but i had a similar combo to his...it was 1987 long bed s-10 4.10 gears adn th350 .not sure of weight...anyways motor was a 355 with 9.5.1 compression 462 camel hump heads-stock valves and everything else performer rpm intake and with a BULLET .502/.502 CAM it went 12.00's...before we had a lunati .535 lift cam and went 12.4's....like i said i will get you more specs on that cam

i'd do the 1.6's its something you can grow with in the future. don't expect much but you will probably pick up 10hp or so. the lift will make the biggest difference on those heads.

i dont' know what springs you are running but i would think that those heads would see an improvement from higher ratio rockers. its not going to be huge gains but it will be a whole lot easier then a cam swap.

I went 12.42 with that same 268 voodoo cam and a 3.73 gear in a full weight 72 camaro. motor was a 10-1 383 with 200cc heads. I think their should be more there than 13.40's.

the 13:40's were with the 3:42 gear. and this is a 355 with around 9.5 to 1 comp
