I'm looking into getting a .308 later this year for target shooting and deer hunting. I went today to Final Flight Outfitters and looked at a few. They had the Howa heavy barrel, and Remington 700 VTR. I liked the VTR but haven't heard much about them.

This is the gun I'm looking at. Who owns one and how do you like it?

I have a 700VTR. I think it's great. It shoots better than I will ever be able to. It's stock with a bi-pod and a cheap Millett 4-16 scope.

I guess the theory behind the triangulat barrel is that it is supposed to be more rigid than a round barrel. I think they look pretty cool.

I think you can pick em' up on Gallery of Guns for around $680.

Not bad for the price.

My best friend has a VTR in .243. That gun is sweet. very accurate, smooth crisp trigger pull. I really want one.
