Ok im changing my combo to N/A from a mild nos motor. The car currently runs 9.55 @ 141.5 with 1.37 60'. This is footbraking and shifting at 7600. It wants to rev higher just need more passes. The convertor flashes to 4700 and im running 3.73 gears with 28 x 10.5 tire, trap rpm is 6700.

What would you guys recommend gear and convertor? What kind of gains would you expect to see. Should i gear it for trap rpm past my shift point a couple of 100? Im hoping for maybe 9.20's at maybe 145 or so. Do you think this is doable?

Forgot this is a 89 foxbody mustang.
440 ci yates motor.
c6 trans.

Thanks Dave.

i would put a convertor that hits around 200rpms higher then peak torque and see how it runs... sometimes more gear will kill the tires on launch..

What is the weight of the car what trany and how high will it rev and at what rpm do you shift. Your stall speed should be no less then 100 to 200 rpm less then the rpm drop at gear change. I shift my glide at 8200 rpm my stall is 6700 this keeps me in the zone all the way down track but keep in mind i have lots of rpm left in the engine for top end charge

THN20, trans is a C6 3 speed, shifting at 7600 but can go higher if needed its still pulling. Based on cam and heads it should be done around 7800 or 8000 ish. Car weighs 3000pds.
