Here is all you need to use any ole generic coil over in a g-body. Just make yourself a little bracket that bolts into the stock location up top and allows you to through bolt the top of the coil over:

Then the bottom is just a standard off the shelf lower shock mount in the stock location with a couple of extra washer to push the shock body away from the rear end housing:

You are welcome to scroll through my photobucket albums below for pics of my minitub and frame notch.

Hope this helps. PM me if you have any additional questions related to my setup.

Slick litlle bracket. Do you recall the length of the shocks?
I'm gonna slice a inch or so off the frame rails and cap the sides and try to leave the factory inner wheel tub. would like to fit a10 inch rim but if i can get a 12 in there I would be happy.
thanks;)

Greg, thanks for the pics.Doesnt one manufacturer make a stock style top mount that uses the bearing?

As far as I am aware, Afco is the only manufacturer to offer a bolt-in coil over as Illegal Regal suggested. I'm not sure how the mount works, since I have not seen their version.

I used 315/60-15 M/T Drag Radials on a 10 inch rim with the frame max-notched, minitubbed and the car lowered 6" or so. I wouldn't even suggest a 12" rim with a max-notch and minitub. If you went with a 12" rim, you better make sure the offset is dead nuts perfect or you will be rubbing on one side or the other with that size tire unless you leave the rear jacked up. The shocks I used were Strange 9-3/4" single-adjustable designed for front end use. I live about a mile from Art Morrison, so it was just what they had in stock when I built the car. I wanted the car as low as possible while using the stock mounts, so I had to go with the shortest shock I could find. If you don't care to go so low, then you could use their shortest rear shock, which I believe was around 11-1/2" or so.
