I have a 3000lb mustang with a 6.0 ls motor in it with a f1a making about 10lbs and im wanting some thoughts on what rear end gear to use. It has a 3.73 in it now with a th400 trans and 1st gear is useless.

This car is mostly a street car but I do go to the track some and I plan on turning it up some.

A th400 with a stock 2.48 first gear is very hard to tame. Likely a gear change is not going to help you very much. A gear set would help along with power management. A 3.50 gear will be better but not by a lot.
