ok just finished upgrading my small block single plate
to a bbc 2 kits. old combo ran 5.25 on a 300 shot on
28 x 10.5 and 29.5x10.5 non w no 7531 just a edelbrock controller
60 1.19
330 3.40
1/8 5.25 @ 135
i swaped my 4.10 to 3.70 and set up the first kit for 200 shot to get a feel for it.
car is stock style foxbody mustang has wheelie bars and a really good chassis not 25.xx, only run 1/8 mile.
new motor made 1100hp n/a. how much hp is needed to run a 3250# small tire car to 4.95 my goal is to do i on one kit. new motor makes more hp n/a than old motor on the plate
i see all this guys doing it now with sb and radials on 1 kit, don't see why i can't. what do you guys think

I'd say around 1,300 hp to the ground give or take a little.

69chevelle, both of my cars can identify with your situation in terms of power, weight, tires, etc.

I think it'll take about 1400 HP at the crank to run that 4.90s 1/8 at that weight. I do think it will take more than a 200 n20 shot...maybe closer to 350. This is because the Motor HP will be somewhat affected by the timing being retarded. Good HP NA motor does not necessarily correlate to good HP N20. Camshaft specs can play a big role here. And, remember if you have to lean on the progressive controller, that means for the time the controller is on & the Noids pulsing, you are not applying full power. The only things I would be concerned about to achieve your goals are (1) the high gear ratio you changed to (even with the short tires), and (2) consistent traction with that much power, weight & small tires. I run a 4.10 in the '71 Camaro (29.5 tall tire) & a 3.89 in the '69 Camaro (33 tall tire). Good luck, be safe, and the FUN is the challenge!

thanks fofo, the 200 shot its the smalletst i have, i wasn't thinking that was going to do it, thats just to get it started, the motor is a nitrous build motor, n/a trim would of made aleast 80hp more
like you said, i was thinking more like 350-400 shot. and the weight should be less than 3250. im not sure yet i still need to scale it with the new motor. i'm hoping 3150 but i'm sure i still have to add some weight to the back of the car now that all the weight its in the front

i read some where that you tryed the small tire before you went with the 7531
how that worked out for you?

yep sounds about right maybe a little more.my car ran its best 4.90.it took my motor that dynoed 1044hp and a single 400 hit at 3150lbs.

33/16. traction control - pretty much nothing.release the trans break and full 400 hit.i do have the 7531 and when very cold in nov had to put a few degrees of launch retard in.

i think you will need almost as much since your on a small tire and cant use it all of the line which is where alot of et comes from and you said 3250lbs which is a 100lbs more than im at.if it takes much less than 400 all the better.

another69. i'm not sure on the weight yet i think i was guessing on the high side the cares was 2880 with the small block
and 1 bottle. i swat to the bb and 2 bottles i did find a couple of lbs here and there to scrape off. i hope when i weight to
be around 3100#. the 3250# i estimated at first has to be way off, i have the 24n 18f pills on it now to get a starting point
and see how fast it goes with that. i'm going to try to aleast match my old combo et with this tune up 5.25

wait.holddddddddddddddddddddddddddd on a 34/38 or 32/38 jets will put u at 4.90 if u got s 400 shot and on a 315 radial.shood a man haves a 588 and 1 500 shot on the fogger and 275s at 3400lbs been a 4.98.al marolo did dat and he was legal.
