was just told by a friend that he read in a magazine that
if you have 3 gals of 93 oct. and mix in a gallon of vp 116
the octane rating will be pretty close to the 116 octane rating.
is there any truth to this?

yes he would be if he ran a motor that needed to run 116 and he did the mix because 93 is not a true 93 and now it is a 10% mix already. dont do it man.....

If you are going to try mixing anything with pump gas, do a small batch first in a clear plastic soda bottle and let it sit a while (a few minutes or a day?) to see if it separates into layers. Sometimes mixing race gas with pump gas will make the water separate out of the pump gas. If it has ethanol in it, it has water in it. In colder temperatures this is more of a problem.
