Trying to quiet down my truck, has a 6.0, turbo, and 4" exhaust to the rear bumper.
I have one round, straight thru Dynomax (22" case) before the rear, and another 12"
after the rear, then a short tailpipe. Trying to get the cab quieter, def going to do a lot
of insulating this winter, hopefully that helps that part. I was thinking of splitting the exhaust
into dual 3" and mufflers, not sure how much that helps. There was a muffler that had a flap
inside, open up under pressure, but finding 4" stuff reduces choices. They make some diff.
valves that open by pressure, or elect. I know the Hellcats used something to open up the
exhaust in perf. mode. Curious what guys are using to quiet things down, yet avoid
exhaust rests.

Trucks are hard to get the drone out of,I guess the bed has to do with it. I took the single 4" off of mine a did a 3" dual,and was much better.

If you run a kill pipe/cancel pipe or two it might help, but it won’t be a huge difference with a 4” system. This would be a pipe plumbed into the exhaust pipe but running next to it with a capped end to kill/cancel exhaust pulses. Tough to explain, but I’ve seen it used before to eliminate drone on smaller systems and it works.

although its a car a i run a 3in side exit with a magnaflow rectangle/box straight through muffler for daily driving but i have a 4in bumper exit downpipe with a 4in loud valve that opens under boost.

Try necking it down to 3.5" and running a moroso spiral flow muffler. No restriction and they quiet down the exhaust using noise canceling technology. Pretty cool technology for a muffler actually. I run one and it works great.

Thats helmholtz resonator tuning. If you know the frequency you are trying to eliminate you can calculate the volume and sizes of the resonator chamber to attach to your exhaust

I have heard about that, didn't know if it really worked. Some good suggestions.

That is how the spiral flow muffler also works. It splits the flow and gets half the flow out of phase with the center flow and they cancel each other out when they are reintroduced to each other at the exit of the muffler. Plus they don't cost much.

I tried 3" Moroso Spiralfow's a few years back.

Unbeknown to me at some point internally they collapsed leaving only the centre hole of around 1.5" inside them

Strangely...never noticed any change in performance.

And this didnt take years...I'd say it must have been weeks or months. Do not use spiralflows.

Really...as big a muffler as possible, I found the perforated tube/packing quieter than any chambered design too.

Just put a good muffler system on it. I split my car's 4" downpipe into two 3" into Borla XS mufflers (straight through ovals) and it is quiet as can be. Easy handle over 1000 HP with almost no change in pressure from a dump. It isn't even worth using a cut out.

Just be careful how you do the split.

Yes they have a 1.5 inch hole down the middle and a spiral channel around the outside of the 1.5 inch tube down the middle. half the flow goes down the middle and half goes around the outside. Nothing "collapsed" that is how they are new. You obviously didn't build the system or put them on yourself or you would know this.

And clearly you do not know what collapsed means.

The fucking spiral shit all fucking collapsed into a piece of shit collected at one end of the unit, leaving only the inner tube mostly in one piece.

Catch a fucking grip and don't be so stupid.
