Whats up with Q16 leaving stuff if fuel system, I can clean my cell down with nothing in it and add Q16 leave it sit and overnite will be like a gritty subtace at the bottom. So far this year in using 54 gal of q i had to replace my fuel pump and 8 injectors, why?

One of the NHRA pro stockers lost 2 motors in one day due to to cell foam degredation/rot.

I'm not sure but doesn't Q have a small percent of alcohol. that would explain it.

For some reason it sounds like the lead has fallen out of the fuel. Where did the fuel that you put in the cell come from? Was it out of the drum or sealed can? Or did the fuel sit in a plastic can for a bit before you put it in? If you still have the original drum I'd like the batch number off it. I can tell you if it was a batch problem there would be 100 other drums with issues. This is the first I've heard of this. Normally when the lead falls out it's from a jug that sits in the sun or even under flouresant lights in the trailer or garage. Let me know what you find out. Plus if you can let me know where you bought it from. Thanks.

I've noticed the M5 does this as well, a lot more so that straight methanol. Are these two fuels perhaps more corrosive to aluminum parts that other fuels?

I've just chalked it up to being more corrosive and since I clean out my entire system after every race, it hasn't been too much of an issue

it was right out the drum, fuel stays in my shop, non flouresant lights, just looked in my cell crap in the bottom again, I have $1300.00 in fuel system parts already this month. I had new injectors set back to precision turbo and the flow was over 50% of what they should on some. And NO FOAM

I have had no issues with M5, all my aluminum is anodized though.

Ran Q16 but only briefly, no issues there as well.

Stuff stays sealed in its original drum, shop is climate contrllloed so may be the difference.

Jim bought his drums from me. I brought in 5 Drums of Q16 during the load. I havent heard any problems with any of the other drums but sure as hell would like to know if there is problems with that batch so i can inform my customers.

They went right from me, to Jim. No extended periods of sunlight, no early 08 fuel, both seals still on, none of that.

I haven't heard of this as I said before. Q doesn't have alcohol in it so that wouldn't explain it. If there was a batch problem, there would be 100 plus racers having a problem, so I don't think it's that. The number I need is on the label. It should say something like 123/09. This would tell me what day in 09 the fuel was made. If you can give me this number and I'll call our chemist on Monday and let you know what I find out.

Off the top of my head i think that load numbers were 90/09. (late march). I try to mark down/watch every pail and drum that comes in, but i could be wrong.

I bought 2 drums at the same time, it is sitting in mt fuel cell now with the crap in it, I will bet if i pulled my injectors out thr screens are full of it to. here is a picture of me cleaing the cell again and waisting fuel. I bet i wasted 20 gal already I have to do this every week, But my tractor runs good.

Your suppose to drain that stuff after each race. I think the oxygenate and octane booster in Q16 and Import is MTBE (google it). I use the Import in a limited use with C-16 and the oil shows what your seeing in the bottom of the fuel tank. I drain my system after each race.

The richer you run your fuel system the worse it gets. Which I have to do because of being non-intercooled.

I understand what your saying, but to the best of my knowledge Jim had this happen while the fuel was still in the drum? I could be wrong but i believe that is what i was told.

In the drum would be another issue. I thought he was having issues with it in his fuel cell..??
