I have a mustang with a powerglide engine makes aproximately 1000hp on the bottle, the problem im having is when the car shifts into second gear the the tranny starts engaging and desengaging what could be the problem. It has a stock pump.

Shifter linkage misadjusted... rooster comb inside trans cracked... pump sealing rings leaking/torn/etc... any number of issues. First check the external/obvious with the linkage. Also maybe before you pull it apart take a peek at line pressure just in case.

I took the tranny down last night and opened it up everything looks good. At the shift the car would vibrate almost like if it was tire shaking. So would a stock pump be enough pressure for a 1000hp? what for pressure should I see.
