I own a Hughes built TH400, 34-3X and it's has about 500 miles behind a turbo 2jz-gte.
I have a Reid Th400 case with a roller bearing tail shaft.
I am wanting to swap the internals of the Hughes trans into the Reid case and change the valve body to the Griner billet.

I was gonna replace my intermediate wide snap ring with a 4L80E spiral lock but when I measured the thickness of the spiral lock it’s .086 and fits a little loose in the receiver. The snap ring measures .104 and fits tight. Which retaining ring is better to use?
I've done a quick google and given up - does anybody know if GM used the same steel for the shafts in their Turbo Hydro series of automatics? TH200R4, TH350, TH375, TH400 etc etc? If they did use the same steel, what grade is it?
