I would love to see some pics of Mustangs, hope they start posting!
I am die hard Mustang lover, all though I do not race one but would love to, can't complain though my Chevy power has been good to me.
Just wanted to post a couple pics of this Mustang I just had the privilege of driving a few weeks ago...This is one bad 68 GT 500 KR!
Wow - I've had & done a bunch over the last 20yrs! (My true love)
Here's my latest: (66 fastback) now going back together w/ 750+hp Dart 8.2 Deck SBF (FE 427 V-Cvrs) :smt017, Procharger, Blow-thru E-85, "Fox" strut set-up w/ rack & pinion - Street Car. Going to be an A/FX tribute w/ the "correct stance" :supz:, (if you have to ask you wouldn't understand) wheels & tires and teardrop hood etc. Yea - I've had it "finished" a few times - LOL
Hey Bob,, your car is Bad a$$.
Mine is running a 392 inch 351W with AFR heads. Tranny is a Liberty proshifted toploader with a vintage vertigate. in the rear it's got a 57 Edsel rear end with 4.56 gears and Moser axles and Cal Tracs. (Just put the caltracs on still trying to sort it out) Out front, I have Opentracker racing Roller lower control arms , roller idler arm and heim joint strut rods. New Stock 6 cyl springs and a bumpsteer kit.
Thats a cool set up, hows she run? I got a FE and a Jerico. I have had 5 68 fastbacks and there is just nothing like banging gears in that body style. It just feels so right!
Well,,,, If I can keep at least 2 wheels on the ground, (hopefully the rears.....) I have run a best of 11.15 @121. It's pretty ill tempered. It launches like ass. (one guy swears I pulled all four off the groung) Going try some sliders on the rear leafs and get to seriously working on my suspension this next season. My buddies keep ragging on me about my stick. I tell them " has any one ever came over to you and said they really like how you shift your powerglide???? I think not" Maybe i'll get a Jerico when I grow up.....
The color is supposed to be Dodge pickup atlantic blue. At least that's what i asked for. Had a few more pics,, but you'll have to get them from the a$$hole that stole my camera.
Hang in there, a friend of mine had a 68 with a 390 on the bottle that ran high 10's up here on the bottle that had that problem of bouncing the back wheels. He had cal tracs and a set of magna 5 leafs that sucked. He got the calvert springs and some good shocks that didnt bottom out it cured it right up. I dont know your whole combo but a aluminum flywheel might help it if you dont already have one. here's a couple of my old fastbacks
,,,,Was actually thinking about changing my homemade springs for Calvert Mono's. What's the advantage of an aluminum flywheel as far as the launch ? Less rotational mass = better launch?
