Yep, would be a bad ass throttle and stick show. But the Hornet can make two turns inside the Tomcat, and still be on his tail.
Too expensive, fuel pigs and too maintenance heavy.
F-14 has very good turning radius, easily a better performer than the F-4 and previous jets used by the Blue Angels. One of the problems is also the sweeping wings, can't do formations with the wings sweeping back and forth among other issues.Not near the tight turn radius of the A4 or F-18 and I don't think the F-14 could pull off a few maneuvers the F18 does.
Someone who knows more can expand on this, but IIRC some CF-104's ejected up, and some ejected downwards. Pilots flying these on low level missions- for which these things were never intended- had to have reminders in the cockpit as to which way that particular aircraft ejected. Apparently there were a lot of pilots killed unnecessarily because of that.
