What is the propper way of installing the stator tube so it stays? The hardened one I got came with 2 setscrews, but no directions on where to put them. My book says to use red loctite and tack weld with mig. Some say not to weld, cast to steel, problem.
Thanks,
MIKE

The setscrews need to be installed in sheer with the tube. Sometimes loctite can be used also to seal near the pressure ports. Once you have the old tube out , you need to look for areas to drill through that don't interfere with any passages. The setscrews may need to be clearanced or honed after they are installed into the tube. Its very hard to describe the procedure without pictures and I don't have any to show a step by step process. There are many weak attempts that are just a waste of time. If the setscrew is just poking into the side of the tube , that won't do a thing and would be better left alone.
