We made it back to the track today in the Lil Sumptin '71 Camaro 3350# ladder bar 29.5 x 13.5 582 Big Duke 32N26F 20* 5.00# FP.

Last weekend the track was so loose that we couldn't make it past 20' before going up in smoke! So, I fugured, WTF, I think I have learned a thing or two on YB about the 7531 box, and I ain't skeered, so let's give it another TRY! Some called me NUTS...LOL.

DA was -900 & high temp today was 64*, and the track was better due to a larger car count & better track prep, but far from "good".

We started by leaving @ 12* total timinig & ramping for .8 seconds to 20* AND built a soft rev limit curve. The car popped from teh Launch to 2.00 seconds hitting the 7531 box soft rev limiters, went left, and I hald on as long as I could, but just past the 1/8, I was headed to the center lane, and had to lift. 1.27 60 5.24 137 8.80 112.

After Madman tightened the shocks to reduce the rear end separation & adjusted the stagger on the wheelie bars, and we raised the soft rev limiter another 300-400 rpms, 8.14 @ 169. Then we continued to tighten the shocks (rebound) & adjusted the right wheelie bar. Our bottle pressure was on the low side at about 890# when we launched, and the n20 tune-up was fat (hitting the soft rev limiter & popping surely doesn't help!), but we saw progress.

Then we went 8.08 8.02 8.04 @ 169-170 with 1.235 60'.

I know the car will go 7.95 @ 172 on 1 stage IF we can leave "all in" without the Launch Retard AND soft rev limiters killing the power to get down the track. Bottle pressure closer to 950# would also make a more efficient n20 tune-up. I think it can go 4.95 @ 142 & 7.70 @ 180 on 2 stages. All we need is a tigher track.

Thx to Madman, CBS Charlie Stelly, & Steve Johnson.

Only in America.

Thank you. Baby steps. I've only been racing 10 years (got a late start), and have had 3 accidents already (1 fire, 1 wreck & 1 off the top end of the track excursion). I have a lot of passed, over 1500, but anything can happen at these speeds in heavy cars with small tires. The "Mrs." says "no more accidents...end of story"...LOL.

We will make a Quick 16 race next weekend, and if conditions are right, I think that track will hold the 1st stage with NO 7531 "crutches"...should go 7.95. If that works, we will move to the 2nd stage...have smaller 30N26F in the 2nd stage right now.

The '69 will be ready to test in another 2 weeks...we are running behind, because I want to take it to SGMP at the end of February to make some test runs & have some FUN & watch some badazz rides. I'd rather not go up there with it "green", with all new front end parts, gear change, etc.

All in FUN for me. Only in America!

Thanks everyone.

We are blessed to live in south Louisiana. Many great things down here in addition to the weather & racing...Cajun food, friendly people, awesome hunting & fishing, LSU Tigers & the Saints football...the "Sportsman's Paradise".

63NSVette, yea, that -900' DA caught my attention, and that is one reason I did not bust balls to get the bottle pressure too high, even though the current tune is not on the edge. It also seems leaving with the 7531 box launch retard & ramp functions & the soft rev limiter effectively "richens" the tune-up by taking timing away & dropping cylinders for about 10-20% of the run (until we're all in)...at least that is what the plugs indicate.

Thanks Patrick for the awesome SV1 Carb...I am running it JUST AS IT WAS, OUT OF THE BOX you sent. I ERPMs take a slight dip at the instant I launch on release of the TB...any ideas on cleaning that up, or for the n20 guys, should I delay the retard (none in the box now)...delaying the retard function makes me a bit nervous (motor is @ 33* with -13* = 20* in stage 1 32N26F).

Oh, not to press my luck with you "snowbirds", but the weather for this Saturday at our local track is forecasted to be Sunny with a high of 63*...our DA is also so good at this time of year, because we are right at Sea Level (unfortunately I know most of you recall the horriffic flooding caused by Hurricane Katrina when the levees broke in N.O.).

Nova, SCR in Erwinville, LA, just outside of BR...street car TNT day. NPR (No Problem Raceway) in Plattenville is generally a tighter track, and will NOT likely require any LR, Ramp, or Dots to control wheel speed. We'll test that theory Saturday...LOL.

I will try to have the Data Logger & Launch History data "studied" by tonight. I'm still betting I was at a lowly 6200 at the 1/8 @ 138 & maybe 7250 @ 170 at the 1/4 (4.10 w/ 29.5 tall tire & Hughes n20 Converter)...another reason it should "roll" on 2nd stage, given a good track.

your right about that! We went through LA when we went to Houston for the Supra Nationals last year. We made sure to take a pit stop and pick up some kickass cajun food! Only place I know where you can get fuel, get some kickass food, and go to a Casino!! My dad took company took us out in the Gulf to do some fishing down there.....WOW is all I can say! I cant wait to get back down there!!

ps- I hate you for your kickass weather:p

Nova, I'm sorry...State Capitol Raceway is in Erwiniville. No Problem Raceway is actually in Belle Rose, LA (close to Donaldsonville & Plattenville)...in the middle of no where...LOL. Thx.
