I was informed today that the NMCA/NMRA superbowl rings will be awarded to either ALL NMCA class winners or ALL NMRA class winners. Based on total cumulative shootout wins ..

So basically. After all the winners of each class are determined. They will race the equivalent class winner of the other sanctioning body like alway.. However. If MORE NMCA cars win the shootouts than NMRA guys. ALL RINGS will go to NMCA guys, and vise versa..

I know I would be hate to be a guy who won my class, then won my shootout and did NOT get a ring..

Just curious to get some input from you guys on what your opinions are..

I do not like it. I understand the "team" thing, but usually the "team" consists of the people in your pit or maybe even a multi car deal. If I was to lose in the shootout but receive the ring via the "team" deal I think I would present it to the real winner. Then again, maybe not.....

Since there seems to be some confusion:
NMRA NMCA TREE HANDICAP
PRO P\S .4 PRO Handicapped according to Individual competitors low elapsed time Fri. - Sun. Heads-up, NO breakout

Right from the rule book that's been out since March.

I thought the rings were an added touch? They must be charging an extra amount on the race entry to cover the cost of the rings right. I used to be the first to bitch about anything but it seems like the NMRA/NMCA can't do right in some peoples eyes. Sometimes its good to step back and not take this hobby to seriously. Flame away.

I guess I can understand.. kinda like a High School track meet.. whoever has the most points, wins....
The difference is at the meet you get your ribbon or medal and the team accumulates points for an end of the year championship trophy or something. The track meet is a TEAM thing where you go to school and grow up with these people.

The NMCA/NMRA is a killer organization with great people and individual teams that are friends and acquaintances, but for the most part is they are individual teams and crews. NASCAR doesn't give extra money to the Ford, Chevy, Mopar or Toyota teams at each race because one manufacturer did better than the others. They don't only give the money to the Chevy teams when Jr. wins a race, no each individual team gets their winnings they achieved and were due for that race. It's a once and done thing.

I think the rings should be given out for an individual accomplishment a once and done race, winner take all for all the marbles.

The rings are awsome and when the add in FSC Magazine says "Come On You Know You Want One" or something like that with a full page picutre of the ring....it doesn't say "you can have one as long as Ben Mens or John Langer wins their race and gives us more points than the other team." To me it means if YOU WANT IT COME AND BEAT THE GUY NEXT TO YOU AND TAKE IT FROM HIM.

Just my thoughts.

I guess for me personally it takes away from the lure of the JOLIET race and the feeling of accomplishment to get that ring.. The SUPERBOWL is your one chance to do battle across the sanctioning body lines and see just who has the baddest car in the land. Winning the RING is the symbol of that dominance. I know to me that ring wouldnt mean a thing if I LOST THE SHOOTOUT and won the ring..

Wouldnt it be pretty hard to tell the grandkids someday thats the ring I got when I got my ass handed to me but 6 other NMCA guys won their races???
