I would use slight caution since it has a fifth wheel. I would be curious to know how many of those miles were with a trailer. If its in clean condition, it is assumable that its been well cared for.

i would be wondering why after only four months he is willing to take an $1800.00 hit. And... chevrolet diesels are know for injector pumps going bad and are weak motors. i bought a 85 4dr dually with 454/400 turbo tranny that i am selling on here. i bought it to tow with but don't have anything i can't tow with my 06 1/2 ton. reason i bought, i can work and repair anything on it with low cost and not have to worry. those diesels like that i have seen many people getting rid of in the 90,000 to 130,000 mile range. and yes beware the 5th wheel

You want me to go look at it, it was about 3 blocks from my house at a car lot last week. Not sure if its still there though. PM me If you want me to take a look.
I appreciate that offer, but I am going to pass. I remember previous type threads from here mentioning various problems with diesel motors. Having never owned one before, I am not ready to try it. I think I will stick with a 454. I tow now with a 98 GMC Z71 4wd, works fine, but a dually would be better. I only tow with it anyways, gas milage is going to suck, but cant be much worse than now.
Thanks, Tony

I have a 95 3500 with 225,000 on it. Never had any major work done and it still runs and drives excellent and averages 18 mpg towing or not. Mine is a customized version extended cab but other than that it is the same truck as the one you are looking at.

BINGO!!!! Beware I have a 97 in my work fleet and I have replaced the pump twice at $1800.00 a pop!!! Not good considering it has 125,000 miles on it. My 03 Duramax has 150,000 and no worries as of yet.

6.5 diesels are very underpowered.especially if you are used to newer diesel power.i have a pretty built 06 cummins, and we had a 6.5 early chevy come in to our shop, wow what a dog.if its gonna tow light, its not too bad.

That's a good price for that truck. I had a 96 GMC CC dually, it was a great truck. Yes they are under powered compared to today diesel trucks but for that money and if you don't tow heavy you should be fine. There are a bunch of upgrades out there from the aftermarket now also.

i had a 79 cc dually 454/400 turbo brand new from top to bottom. tuned it out. headers turbo mufflers, 650 edelbrock carb good wires, alum intake, solenoid kit on firewall. did some trading aquired a 90 xcab dually 454 F.I. auto overdrive. driving them back the older model got better fuel mileage than a newer model did. so now you know why i prefer non-overdrive and non-F.I. crewcabs
