Gotta love Modified Production!! My father ran a D/MP '64.5 Mustang with a Boss 302 (Gapp & Roush port plates) and a super T-10 until he quit in 1973. He left at 8,500 shifted at 9,000 and crossed at 9,500 or so.... Sweet music!!! Larry Kopp was the MP man around here back then.

in the mid to late 70's i had a 66 chev II that we ran ss/i and j
327 small journal oem crank, gm pink rods, gm valves, gk 2010 valve springs, duffys pistons, and we launched it at 9300 shifted at 8600 and crossed the finish line at 8600, if i remember right we had a 6.something rear gear and a borg warner pro shifted four speed and a super shifter. you are right no rev limiters at all.
sure was a lot more fun then!!!!!!!!

High winding small blocks with a clutch...that was the shit.

What was the name on the car?

Sounds alot like a car my dad and I used to own after its heyday. We had the old "Cobra II" which won D/MP at 71 Winternationals. Bob Corn (I believe a partner with Jack Roush) originally owned it.
