i am currently building a 417 sbf it has d3 cylinder heads, sheet metal intake twin dominator carbys, callies magnum xl crankshaft, oliver billet rods,55mm bullet camshaft, dart engine block, stefs wet sump with single stage external oil pump .max rpm should be around 9200 and oil grade will 5w30 lat oil . What oil clearances do you guys recommend??? Journal sizes are 2.749mains and 2.00 big ends, currently i have .0025 on the mains and .0024 on the big ends, using half shells of h and hx bearings

thanks :p

I think with that oil .0025 is OK since you have some good quality parts but certainly no less. I'll also say this...make sure you measure every rod bearing shell and not just one or two. On my last two builds I found varitions as much as .0005 between rod bearing shells (for BB Chev), with Clevite HN series brgs. You get two of those together and you now have an extra thou of clearance you weren't palnning on.
Just an FYI
