Everyone here as racers/crew members: I have a simple question that you guys/gals need to ask yourself.. You as racers/crew members love this sport!! You eat and sleep it!! I would like to know how many times you have gone to the other persons race just to watch? (PRO>NSCA spectator ~ NSCA>PRO sepctator) This is a simple question and should answer why this format is not working anymore.. How do you expect the average spectator to watch when you yourself wont watch unless your team or car is there? Campfire marshmellow parties and 1970's peace songs aren't gonna cut it!! Just food for thought!!

well since I have been building the car I have been attending as a spectator.

this weekend in milan really was kinda disapointing. we have seen milan JAM packed on 10.5 friday night events.... and then I get to NSCA and see NOBODY in the stands, was it the heat?, was it the downriver cruise? was is pro at 131?,....perhaps but whats the difference. 10.5 race is less cars and slower cars....

Honestly I was kinda bummed at the crowd this weekend, I think alot of the reason is cuz I have seen that place packed on friday nights.... Hell I think my import/domestic races at milan has more people just watching.

he is my comments as a spectator from the weekend:
1. classes... zero explination about the classes, your average joe knows nothing about what he is seeing

2. down time, the sunday down time is absolutly needed for cool down, so why not open the doors to local bracket racers for extra cash and fill in racing, not sure what time you have the place rented till but milan can is allow to run according to the noise ordinace till 11:00pm

3. Car counts.......sat was a way better show just becuase you saw more cars go down the track.... this is not the orginizations fault but more cars = more people = more stuff to actually "spectate"

4. Advertisement/reqruting... especially in the local area there are so many cars that could have competed this weekend...there are tons of local EFI cars and thats an index class....all the local 10.5 milan regulars where were they?.......

5. kinda comes from #4 is the NSCA membership + $125 entry really worth the money your actually able to win if your only coming out for the northen 1/2 say milan/stanton/columbus

6. I agree tho compare this event of faster and more cars then the local 10.5 race and I bet you the local 10.5 race makes way more money and its not becuase of the extra entry fees its the packed grandstands.....

NSCA $20 to watch
10.5 $10 to watch

guess I am going to have to get some 10.5 tires so I can have more people ooogle over the car and I can save money on gas and hotels by racing 10 min from the house.

a thought that hit me when I was in the pits this weekend......wow doesn't Musi get tired of this one competitor crap, I mean in all honesty I would be looking elsewhere just to have fun again...I think that is what happened to randy ekins... he was bored of being unchallenged so when 5.0 racing.....

I fell in love with tis program the first race I attended, the cars are some of the coolest and most unique around and I love seeing them blaze the 1/4 that is why I made sure we were building to a class rule book....I deffently do not want anything to happen to this series.

I will be on an internet recruting trip for stanton.... I know we can get more EFI/AM racers there at least.

I said it before, you need a special rate for one time event participants. This will bring out some of the locals. Most of them are not going to pay around $250.00 to run one event. Advertise on local racing sites when the NSCA is coming to town. Put info on the NSCA site for newbies. There is nothing there except directions to the track. No fees, no payout, no car show info, nothing. If someone new looks at the site all you get is frustrated. My opinion would be low if they can't even have a website that has all the info you could want. If you bring locals in, you'll bring their fans too. They will want to see how their local guys compare.

Monty....

First no one wants to race with these guys cause they change the rules every time you go to the track it seems. Second we little guys that run at Stanton and Milan or any local venue for the most part can compete with the org. cars under the rules of present day. Our local programs have little rules to follow so we dont always fit well in ths classes when it boils down to cubes to weight.

As far as being a spectator why should I go hang out at a track when my junk sits at home cause it used to fit in a class before they outlawed this and that..... I look at todays NSCA and NMCA and see a bunch of muffler equiped "drag cars" not "street cars"..... No one runs pipe to a muffler anymore its all header mufflers, interior is very limited on some cars, they have sponsors all over the body, the pro street cars look like pro mods, there is no identity to the small tire classes anymore, blower this, turbo that, nitrous cant compete, bla bla bla...... Anyone can look at my car and identify it as a street car, it may be slower and heavy but its steel and factory inside (Underdog can verify) its a friggin tank..... Also from my seat I see both of these orgs kiss a few guys asses to keep some big names at the track to draw a few people while the rest of us peel off and run our local stuff.

I am certain we could find lots of reasons to shoot holes in the orgs for racers and spectators but why waste our time they wont listen. Look at super chevy that was huge at one time now they should just kill it.....

The local deals are much more laid back and relaxed........

I've been to both and enjoy both. I think putting them on the same weekend is a piss poor decision at the very least. I would have gladly attended both events had they not been on the same weekend. Also, with the big event at Norwalk, who's to say that cars didn't end up going there either. To have three or four huge racing events in the same part of the country on the same weekend probably hurt the exposure a bit. I do think that there will always be those cars that will not run one event or the other for whatever reason.

I also think that being a member to run a particular class does cause some pains for those that otherwise would attend. Like it was stated above, a one time waiver should be made to help encourage the locals to come out.

PS - RPM, the number one qualifier for Pro Street and Super Street at Pro were both nitrous cars!

I went to the NMCA race on Saturday and the NSCA race on Sunday. I enjoyed both events (although the heat both days was rough). I agree with most of Kevin's points.

I wonder how much these organization partner with the local track and its racers. In other words, does the track communicate to their local racers that they can participate in there races just like any other?

At Milan there was a bracket race on both Sat and Sun and they got very little attendance which is a shame.

One of the problems I see in NMCA and NSCA is there is too much infighting going on. It seems to me that if you are not "part of the crowd" you don't mean much.

I was very interested in racing in the NSCA event in Loozianna this spring. They limit car to 1978 where everyone else limits them to 1979 (I run in Nostalgia Muscla Car). I have a 1979 AMC Spirit and I had written to several people at NSCA, posted on their message board and never got a reply as to whether or not I could get a one race allowance to join the fun. At about the same time is when they did a last minute rule change in NSS that got a few people torqued off and I just decided not to try any more to race with them.

If this is how they treat everyone that wants to come race with them, no wonder their car counts are down. To me, if I were an event sponsor and all I saw was 2 or three cars in the "premier" classes and only a handfull in the others, I would ask myself if I would be doing this next year for them.

I have seen the crowds at our local tracks on the 10.5 nights...... very crowded. One of my friends sells car trailers and is sponsoring a 3 race deal that pays 1500.00 to win and the person with the most points after the third race wins a nice 20 ft trailer. The first race was in May and they had to open the class up a bit....... they had 66 cars entered! The first 64 qualified and the last two got to go home. The bump spot was 7.08 (1/8 mile track). The purse was increased to 3000.00 for the win also!

I will stick to running in the Texas Muscle Car Challenge races and the Texas Outsiders races. I have a lot of fun there and no politics...... unless you bring Mark the wrong brand of beer

I saw where a few said they run a local deal and their rules arent as strict...

Well, thats part of your answer right there.

Why should a Joe Regular go and pay the entry plus the membership fees to run at one or 2 races, have to change things on their cars, and have a slim chance. When they could stay local and do well and not change anything on the car. What I would have to pay just to ENTER an NSCA race, I could race on locally. Thats gas, entry, a couple burgers, and some race gas.

Go Figure....

I raced at the NMCA race on Friday and Saturday, then went to the NSCA on Sunday to watch. I will say that the Milan 10.5 race Friday night race has more spectators then both orgs. had put together for the weekend. Why? was it the heat? I don't think that is all of the problem.

I would also like to say that the people that are involved with the (NSCA) R/S #7 red 67 Camaro are a bunch of Assholes. And I ment it when I said "I will drive my shit over here and bust your ass."
