I appreciate the knowledge of you guys, thanks for sharing it!!! I find it very odd that the standard NOS Big Shot plate instructions show a small nos jet vs. fuel jet for all settings except the 350 shot, which runs a .120 nos jet and a .116 fuel jet!!!!!!!! Not square, but even the other side of lean with that hog of jet (.120) on the nitrous side and only a .116 fuel side. What's up with that???????????
So.....
225 = .082 N20 & .091 fuel
275 = .093 N20 & .102 fuel
325 = .102 N20 & .110 fuel
350 = .120 N20 & .116 fuel

......like I said smaller nos pill vs. fuel in every case except the 350 shot. Can't call nos on this one because the explanation must not be in the manual - when you ask them they don't know or they take a stupid guess at it!

So, if I were to run a baseline 325 shot and ready to blast this bad dog 350 hit, I go up .018 on the nos jet BUT ONLY .004 on the fuel jet?????????

Is there any logical explanation that NOS could produce for this difference? I'm fixing to go to a 350 shot, so this is an issue I'll deal with when deciding where to start my tuning!

My plan is to square it (which for once is richer than their baseline jetting), set the fuel pres at 7 and hang on as I drag the bumper and try not to shit my pants!!!

The side exit nos solenoid only has a .116 orifice,so that 120 jet is really just maxing the `noid.Basically its just a 116/116 tune.

Square at 7 on a big shot is still pretty rich.

I've run .116N and .110F at 7 lbs with no ill effects whatsoever. I have seen the 16045 solenoid at as little as .112 orifice. Might not hurt to check your solenoid so it gives you a little piece of mind. BTW that first tuneup is still a little fat, although it's not one for everybody. Read the plugs and go play. :D

This is off the NOS brand, but any one run the 12010 series plate kit from Nitrous Works? I would like to get some information on whats working. I talked to NW Tech
and was told never to jet their kit like a NOS kit. They said never run a fuel jet equal or larger than the nitros jet. They basically said run the jets on thir cal card. They give some base line timing retards.....but recently there was an article in a magazine that had the same kit on a 427cid scb. It was jetted for a 250hit. The retard was was at 24 degree total. That is off from what NW Tech told me which is 30. Would like to know what other folks are getting out of their NW 12010
plate kits and what tunes they are using including total timing.

That jet relationship gets even more whacked out if you stack Big Shots. It will be super-duper fat on the second stage if you use anywhere near the stock jetmaps on the higher settings. 1 fat kit is bad enough...but two can get you a lot of ashtrays. There's an easy explanation though. NOS jetmaps are fat so Ricky Racer doesn't melt his shit. But...at that high a hp setting if they were to run the same fat ratios as the lower settings Ricky might lift a ring so they lean it down.

Another note...try to get in the habit of tuning with the jet rather than the psi. Leave the psi set high and knock the jet down to lean it out. The higher the fuel psi the better....helps reduce the percentage of change you'll see in spikes and fluctuations.

Hey Mark the ring land will lift "up" if it's way fat the extra fuel build's behind the ring and then ignite's lifting the land and it will burn or melt the piston edge if it's lean sometime's it's hard to tell what happened first I hope you DON'T become an expert on the topic

lol...you're an official member of the "fat" club when you've got ashtrays that look like this in your garage:

If they look just like that you're a badass too cuz' it means you didn't get out of the gas when all hell started breaking loose....lmao I 1/8 miled the shit out of that phucker next to me too...damnit.

Thought the same thing about the 350 shot at first.I ran two big shots stacked with the 120/116 jets on my 509 and it was so rich when the second stage came on black smoke would pour out the exhaust. But then again I logged 68 full tilt NOS passes on the car and never even burned a spark plug tip.

Well I ran an .098 nos jet / .096 fuel with 6.0 fuel pressure and 1050 bottle pressure.

Was still rich, pretty darn rich.

Was gonna lean it out more but got told to slow down until I get my chassis certified and license.

Guess I'll go for a .102 nos jet with a .096 fuel jet next time out. May try to go this Friday run 1/8 and hit the brakes to go slower than 9.99!!!!
