Think of running it when the series' come to Bradenton Later on this year. Can anyone who has run the class give me some insight into it? I know that they take your fastest time, raise it by a tenth, and that becomes your dial in on Sun. Is it run on a ladder, or random pairing? How is qualifying handled? How strict are they with tech? My car runs mid 11's, and I have a 6 point roll cage, driveshaft loop, all of the saftey stuff. But I am wondering if there was anything special that they might be checking that your typical local series would not be, what are the rules on rear suspension? Thanks.

What are the specs on your car? Engine, suspension changes etc? If you're running a 289/302 type small block, with stock suspension, small tire, full interior etc you may fit in the class I run. Nostalgia Muscle Car.

With open comp here's what they do. You'll make 3 qualifying passes. They'll base qualifying position by reaction time. The person closest on the green side to .000 is the better qualifier. If you go red every qualifying pass, you qualify worse than anyone who is positive/green. They will shave a .1 off of your fastest pass of the 3 qualifying runs and that will be your elimination index the rest of the weekend. Depending on car count, you will normally be paired on a sportsman ladder. If there are more than 32 cars (which happens from time to time) they will do random pairing until there are 32 cars, then do the ladder from that point.

As long as you have the basic safety equipment everyone checks for, you'll be fine. You do have to have an NMCA or NMRA membership to compete, a class #, and appropriate decals and numbers on your car.

If there's any thing else you have questions about, feel free to PM me.

Qualifying is based off of your best reaction time. Very seldon will there be a ladder for first and second round considering usually there are over 60 cars in open comp. They will do a computer geraterd random pair until the car count drops to 16 cars. Usually after second round. If your car is able to pass tech at any other track you will be ok. The track operations staff typically will do tech. unless your a show down car. Suspension is open to any and all. They do not add to your quickest time they subtract. If you hold it wide open and let say run a 10.00 your qualifying time will be a 9.90 and you will be out first round come sunday. Some will add ballast for qualifying and remove it come eliminations. Some will lift at the 1000' to kill a tenth. Depends on you and your driving skills.

My car has a 347 stroker, C4 trans, stock suspension/leafsprings with cal-tracs, 275/60 drag radial. My interior is not completely stock, I have a 6 point roll bar, two racing seats, no backseat. I do have a stock dash, from the rules that I looked at, my cars interior is too heavilly modified Also, will being a member of NMRA allow me to race @ NMCA events, or vice versa? Will they assign me a class number when I get to the track? Thaks alot for info.:D

He was thinking that I might could run Nostalgia Muscle Car on the NMCA side, and they have rules about the interior, sort of like NHRA stock Eliminator.

You have to be a member of both. You can get your memberships and class numbers there at the event. When pay to get in, just take your ticket to the registration trailer and they'll take care of you there. They also sell vinyl sticker numbers at the Power Mall. They can pick a number for you, or if you have one in mind you can see if it is available. It is a 4 digit number starting with 9. So 9***

I hope to have my car back together for this event. I am trying to make 3 or 4 nmca events this year. I realy like running open comp. Its a fun class. I was wondering I have a nhra # on my car but it doesn't start with a 9 does it need to? I hope there is a big showing for this race.
