In 1991, he relegated himself to the role of tuner and has been just as successful.
He tuned his son, Mike, to four NHRA national event wins in Funny Car in 1990 and 1991. Later, Dunn took on the role of teacher to new Funny Car drivers Kenji Okazaki in 1992, and Frank Pedregon in 1998.
He was kinda quiet after the win, but I've heard him get excited before at their performance. He calls his his dad 'big Jim Dunn'.
Maybe he was just tryin not to show any bias towards the team? You, the opposite of how Darrell Waltrip is about the great Mikey Waltrip. (sorry for the nascrap reference. just trying to get something across)
