I have a big block chevy 598 ci trying to see whats a good nitrous cam for heavy nitrous. Will be spraying around 600. the engine has bmf 385s on it merlin2 intake, prosystems carb and around 14 to 1 comp. cam specs in motor now is. Car weighs around 3000lbs with 29.5 10.5ws no bars.

shafiroff has a nitrous ready 582 that makes good power on 1 kit. call them and they can sell you their cam or just call bullet

Thanks thats the cam i have now and just wondering is there another one that would work better. this cam is in all of shafiroffs nitrous motors that we have bought from our 598,582,565. ITdoes run good with this cam but i keep hearing people talking about cranking comp and mine is around 220. but was told should be around 175 t0 180 or so.

wow that is high for an all out nos motor. I have 15.5 to 1 but my cranking comp is around 180-190

i just had mark at bullet make/spec a new cam for my 598 with 385 bmfs to spray 500.i forget the lobe lift but with my rockers its .875/.850 lift. duration at .50 is 287/306 and 116ls.220lbs cranking is way hi for that much spray.thats what i had last year and it didnt like it when the hits got bigger than 250 or 300. whats the ls and ex duration on your cam now and cl.

man i would call monte smith about a nitrous cam. he can set you up. i have a cam that fulton sent me for my 580 15:1 with bmf 385 cranking is 120 first stroke and 180 after 3 more. it has a 114. just my 2 cents

you didnt list the ls on the first cam. i figure it was 112 or so. its hard to tell you need to put the timing events down.new cam has less ex duration which is opposite of what you were looking for.even if old cam was 112 and new one is 114 dropping the duration probably put you right around where you were before.im no cam expert but thats what the #s look like to me????.

He wants me to install it at 109 intake center the other was also on 109.

i wouldnt put it in at 110 if your gonna spray 600 no way.maybe 113 or strait up.

With old cam car would go 5.20s on 250 shot on plate system but seems not to run 330 to good.
went 3.38 to 3.30 and 133mph to 1/8th.trying to 4.9s in 1/8th.

I have had good luck with mark at bullett. They make camshafts for the fastest nos cars out there.

if you are going to spray 600hp that cam may not work past 300-350.. it seems way off for a 598 on 600hp nitrous.
