I’m on my way to North Carolina and am driving through New Mexico right now. I’d been driving for hours and seeing how poor the area was, like crazy poor and shit just seemed abandoned, it gave me a weird feeling just driving through there.

I honestly don’t know much about Indians and the reservations so It made me curious. I did a quick google and found this article and am pretty blown away by what is going on or has happened here.

this is the article I read,

I’ve got no dog in this fight but the article mentions that the group in charge of spending the money basically fucked everyone.
I read most of it. The group in charge of the money was the Navajo Housing Authority (NHA) , so I stand behind my statement in my post # 2

I lived in New Mexico for over a decade, the indigenous people of that area are inherently lazy and entitled, add in a corrupt leadership and it's not surprising that they have pissed off over a billion dollars with little to show for it.

Well, they are brown and entitled.

And, they bickered among themselves when the white man came and decided the fuckers needed to move. And, they never could organize themselves and brought bows, arrows, and knives to a gun fight. And they wonder why they lost a war.

Sound like any other stupid fucktards that are currently bitching about the white people?

New Mexico is a really pretty state, but the areas people live are typically shit holes. Oklahoma Reservations are junked out shit holes too, which is in stark contrast to the other places people live that aren’t on reservations.

In Albuquerque there is a large reservation they built a huge casino and Hotel on, they are rolling in the money, no clue what tribe they are though, my wife and I went there about 5 years ago and hit their slots for several hundred bucks, it's kinda weird though, you can only smoke and drink alcohol in certain areas, the only thing they'll serve you on the gaming floor is bottled water.

The officials handling the money could have purchased hundreds of double wides and had the whole project completed in no time. Homes, streets, sewer, water, electric, everything... And probably would have had money left over.

Not all Indians fit the stereotype. We have the ones camped on the sidewalks downtown passed out from heap big firewater, and ones living in dilapidated old shacks but also guys like Chief Clarence Louie in the Okanogan who thrives in enterprises that employ his people, help his community and are well respected by paleface folks like me. I was trying to find out information on a very obscure old dragstrip that ran in Oliver BC. I only knew from a small old news article that it was on the Indian reservation. So I Googled and came up with the Indian band website. No info on drags but I emailed to see if anyone knew anything. I get an email back asking for my phone number and the Chief himself calls and tells me all about that track and another that ran in the area. It kind of wasn't a surprise when years later it was him involved in getting a road racing track going in the area.

A shining example ...

Just like every group, you have your good and your bad. I used to be heavily involved in the “Indian” community, a lot of me is Iroquois ( Mohawk more specifically). Used to hang out at Powwows and all that as a kid. Seems like a lifetime ago, was interesting. Met some of the nicest down to Earth people you’ll ever meet, I’m talkin genuinely good people. But most were snakes, dirty, untrustworthy people. Just like every other group lol.

When the Methhead Trailer Parks in Ohio look like a great place to live as compared to the reservations in New Mexico.

Trip leg from Alabama to Flagstaff last year was eye opening.

Maybe we should have made them slaves instead of importing them from Ireland and Africa? Please note the sarcasm in that statement.

When you say "we", were you there during these times? Or is that just speculation on your part?

Were you compliant in the oppression of these folk?

hey those are my ancestors , my grandma on dad side was born on a reservation in South Dakota. She was raised on a reservation in indian till my 1/4 cherokee grand father met and took her off the range and they moved to sundusky ohio where she lived very happily on a small farm they had there. Miss her a ton. Even though grandpa apologized to me before he died for my dad and his lack of being family I don't miss him near as much if that makes sense.
