Trying to locate a place that will rent me bottles. Seems everytime I try to get a refill no one around here has any!

Called several welding supply places, all they carry is the Medical Grade.......... Why the hell would they carry Medical Grade? You telling me dentists go to a welding supply company for N2O???

Called Airgas, they tell me they have to send a salesman out to do a site survey before they can consider renting me a bottle. WTF?

I told her I use it for drag racing. I want the Non-Medical Grade with sulphur in it. She said yes, it is the Non-Medical Grade but there are new Federal Laws about who is allowed to buy it.....

How/where do any of you get your bottles????

I'm in Central NJ.

As far as the dentists go I know the Dental College of Philadelphia has an AirGas truck come in and drops off a ton of bottles every so often. We were working there and man was I drooling when he showed up. I think AirGas owns the rights to Nitrous Plus but I might be wrong. They were raping me for around $200+ for a mother bottle including rent and hazmat fees a couple of years ago. The price went up $30 in the off season so I ditched them and went with the medical grade stuff. It is still $160 for a mother bottle but no rent and no other fees to give you an idea on pricing. I am sure others can get it cheaper.

In case I actually get my hands on a bottle, would the following be enough to get the job done:

Some type of stand to mount the mother bottle upside down, I doubt they have a siphon tube inside them.

An adapter to convert the fitting on the mother bottle to a -4 AN, a high-pressure 1/4 turn valve, a really short line to connect that to the small bottle, a filter in between.

Put the small bottle on a scale, make sure it's a lot cooler than the mother bottle. I've watched people turn the small bottle up and down while filling, they were also using a pump. I don't plan on using a pump.

Is a pressure gauge necessary? Small bottle gets filled by weight, pressure shouldn't matter. If it's too warm I know I won't be able to fill it all the way.

Mike you got the procedure down.....Ive been filling bottles since 1989 like that, get the stand from NOS or Nitrous supply, or Steve Johnson, Some bottles DO have siphon tubes, just make sure you get them without it, Then Just freeze your little bottle for 1-2 hours, before filling it turn it upside down, open the valve, a little nitrous will come out, and then a lot of air will come out, this gets the bottle even colder, so cold you wont be able to hold it!!. Then just close the valve, put it on a scale, Hook up the line form the mother bottle, leave it a little loose, crack the valve on the mother bottle to "purge" your transfer line of any air, and be careful that you dont overfill the 10lb bottle, its not hard when its frozen....
