I'm a newbie
OK here is the question:
I have 66 nova built to Pro Stock or X-Treme street specs
With a somewhat limited budget what class can the average guy be more competitive in?
I'm Guessing X-Treme street only because the car count is always alot higher.
I live in upstate NY and between PRO - NSCA and RAM Racing I could hit a few N/A races in the northeast if I go that route.

I am open to any and all opinions
I need help to make up my mind!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Chris

Well I'll tell ya what. Pro Stock is tough. It has become Comp Eliminator all the way in terms of engine development. It takes serious R&D on a yearly/monthly basis. It's gonna take a king kong engine and all the combinations are within .05 MAX..... not much room for error.

We're sitting here constantly going over every single little tiny aspect and part of our engine to get everything possible out of it.

You have to figure on running solid 8.80's next year to win... low 8.90's in the BAD summer heat.... in my opinion.

I love the class, and have a huge passion for doing engine work for this kind of stuff... I'll never get out of it.

But to have success you must make the right decisions.... you'll spend LESS money making the right decisions, than you would making the wrong ones..... the wrong ones will break you.

What engine combination are you considering? BBC would be the smartest engine to build. SBC is high maintenance piece and needs to be run on the ragged edge to compete.... we're pretty much all running these engines to death... it's tough.

Chris,I'm running a 400 small block
Dart block,Callies crank,14.1,Dart Pro 1 cnc heads etc...
This combo has no chance of winning i understand that but its the best i can do this year seeing i have to complete the whole drivetrain.
I have spoke to Jamie stanton a couple times about his BB combo and he spins that motor pretty hard also
When i do change my combo what heads would you go with sb2.2 or all pro 245?

Whats a little nitros kit when the man is bringing a knife to the gunfight?

Novatenfive, you have a nice combination just "supplement" it a little (read between the lines). Take you stuff out and enjoy it, don't get caught up with keeping up with these Jones, alot of these dudes have some really serious equipment and they have spent dearly (in terms of money and time) for them.

If your looking to upgrade combinations do the SB2 route (but stay away from super speedway heads).
