I run the 5.3 in my S-10 in the 1/8 mile for bracket racing. For that purpose, I have a 4.56 gear in it with a 28" tall tire. I shift the truck at 6500 and cross the 1/8 mile stripe at around 6300-6400. The truck has been low-mid 6.90s in the 1/8, and I'm wanting a 10 second 1/4 mile time slip before the end of the year. If I do so, I'll have to bump the rev limiter to around 7200-7400. If I run it that high for just a pass or two, do you think it'll hurt anything?

I saw as high as 7300 with my 5.3 with the 200 shot but generally tried keeping it around 6800.

There is a guy on tech that spun his 5.3 up to like 8200....let me find it for you.
