Been putting in a new electrical system in the car during the winter. When i started the car today, the timing was 10 degrees off at idle. (45 instead of 35) and when i gave it some throttle the timing started jumping back to about 30 degrees, and back to 45 at idle again. Im using a msd crank trigger, and a msd timing module to retard it. Could the retard module be toasted and cause trouble, or is it something in the wiring im missing?

Forgot to mention.. It's retarding the 10 degrees it is suppose to when dry-firing the nitrous system, still ten degrees off tho

Not sure what you mean by "an msd timing module". If its one of the pills, yes, those can be toast. Every one of the people I know, including me, runs a ground wire from the retard screws on the front to guarantee 0degrees. Have heard of numerous problems.

Check polarity of mag pickup, make sure you have zero modules in for the 4 retard steps, or ground all the terminals

Im using a timing module like this http://www.jegs.com/i/MSD+Ignition/121/8676/10002/-1

Gonna change it to a chip, check the wires to the trigger and ground the terminals to see if something happens.
