Is there a way to wire the rpm switch for a shift light so that it goes out after it comes on? Ex. if you shift lower than trap rpm.

If your using the RAS circuit on a 7AL-3, it will switch off after the RPM's fall 5% under the chip your using.
In other words if your using a 7000 RPM chip the light should turn off once the motor drop 350 RPM's or 6650 RPM.

So it is only designed to activate once? If it comes on at 7k and then you trap at 8k it won't come on again at 7k??

Yea it's for a shift light. Guess I'll have to figure out something else. My old Autometer tach wont hold a setting for the shift light rpm anymore. May just get a newer stand alone shift light that is adjustable.

send it to autometer and have it repaired. usually fairly cheap ($25) and quick turnaround.

I thought about it but it's an old Ultra Lite with the analog adjustment screws. I figured for what the shipping and repair would cost I could get a shift light that is adjustable with MSD pills.
