I've had several come to my shop with wiped cams due to failed lifters
Can't say for sure why they failed, but in each instance, they were from low mileage cars that were pretty much babied all their lives, but with extremely long idling periods (Charger security vehicle, 300c elderly couple with autostart, etc.), so yeah, he may very well be on to sumthin

Not an insurmountable issue to fix/upgrade. One oil hole in the lifter body to oil the lifter bore, and another to oil the roller. I recently replaced a lifter to the tune of $7k. Luckily the came was ok, as it was a lifter plunger collapse, instead of a roller failure.
Damn, had ‘03 ram with 5.7. Synthetic in it at 1k and had 225 on clock when I dumped it last spring. brother did replace valve stem seals. He is still putting mikes on it. No other engine work other than plugs and oil changes.
Been looking at 4 speeds for a drag car and have the choice of a m21 or a super t-10 local to me same price for both transmissions. was thinking the t-10 was stronger then a m21 but don't know those transmissions well enough.
