how do you come up with the min csa for your application? I am having a new intake ported for my combo and am wanting to make sure I have it done right.

motor is a sbc with pro topline 12* heads, 421 cu in, 13.5:1 comp, heads were cnc ported (285cc) from pro topline, then had some floor work done to them and are now about 301cc. on a super flow 1020 they flowed 393 @ .800

I am having a mopar intake modified for my engine, and a local guy is porting it for me.
what info is needed to determine the min csa I need for my application?

thanks
Brian

X2, Whats the mcs in the head? Need to compute it all as a combo, then see what length and cs is needed for the app
What size In. valve?
Max rpm?(peak HP)
Min. cs in the head?
Length of runner?
Valve lift?

If you don't trust him, then why is he porting for you? As mention'd you need to know all the variables to determine that. Like bore, stroke, cam, compression, cam specs, carb, runner length/sizes, etc......
