What are you guys using for gas in a mig welder. I'll be welding mostly body panels. Straight Co2 or a 75/25 mix of Co2 argon. What is the difference?

75/25 will produce less spatter. Most newer body panel (mid 80's and newer?) alloys require 75/25 for a structurally sound weld.

I use Co2 only because it does burn hotter. Argon being a heavy gas will absorb some of the heat yet give you better shielding coverage.

I just picked up a bottle of 95% argon 5% oxygen...my welder says he`s been using that mix the last few years with smaller mig wire machines.

If your machine needs co2 to penetrate properly you need a better machine.
