My wife is considering leaving her job which provides us with our benefits. Me, wife and 2 children.

She believes she could get benefits for the children but the 2 of us won't have any. My job doesn't offer them.

In simple terms, what options do I have? How much will I have to pay for the 2 of us? Can you reccomend somewhere to go? a website? How much are you paying?

Then go speak with your doctors especially if you have one in a large practice with their own "insurance specialist" and see if they can get that person to shop around with the same policy you got off that website to get you a lower price

Look up the PA CHIP plan for the kids

But I think you'll find it's easier to just get family coverage

pre existing conditions are the most important factor when purchasing an individual/family plan. If you need help call me or my wife.. its what we do for a living.

You and your wife assuming that you can even get insurance (Previous conditions) will cost between 800-1200 per month with any resonable co-pays.

I have two buddies who are self employed. One is just him and his wife. He pays $700 month for hospitalization only. The other is him, wife, four kids all under 10yrs. and he pays $2200 for the same. Tell your wife to stay there IMO.

I think that people do not understand the value of medical benifits.

Medical insurance is crazy expensive. You don't have to have it, and chances are, you won't ever use it! But, don't start bitching when something bad happens, and you can't get the life saving or life extending care you feel you should get.

This is the TRUTH,,,We have Great Ins from my wife's job,,pay about $1600 a month for the 4 of us.
When I went into the hospital, (after shitting blood for 2 days),,as soon as I showed them my Ins card, I was treated like a KING,,5mins till I had a private waiting room,,Doc came in after 10mins,, They kept me there until they could get me into another private room (after maybe an hour )and I saw a bunch of the people that were going through 'triage' and they were sitting in the halls or back in the waiting room.

It sucks, but I understand why those of us who pay all this money are pissed at people who don't have Ins and bitch that WE are getting special treatment.
