So as you can tell by my screen name I have a 67 Camaro. It's a street car that I do take to the track and run on test n tune nights. Not fast by any means, high 8's in the 1/8th mile. Next yr I want to compete in the Friday night street bracket class. Should I invest the time and money for a line lock? It's an automatic car and I run drag radials. I do a first to 2nd gear burn out with the tires wet with no issues. Being a low h.p car and using drag radials it's not like I need a long Smokey burn out. Opinions? Yes I know car is slow

Pic of Camaro included

Thanks,
Ryan

High 8’s. Have you skipped the burnout box? Do you have posi? Are you planning on adding power? You may not need to do a burnout. Your car may just heat up/burn the fluid if you tried to spin in high gear. Set up those Caltracs correctly and work on your suspensions weight transfer.
I have put many sets of Caltracs on and when set up right they have all hooked up well on the street on street tires. I am not saying they stop spinning but you can feel the difference. These cars were all 600 to 800 hp so yours shouldn‘t be a problem.IMO.
Hard to skip burn out box. Even if I go through at a angle 1 tire will end up wet. Yes, posi. If I could avoid water box I can almost guarantee it won't spin. I've thought about just going through water box. Come up on converter and stab it and let it spin while rolling out to the starting line.

Turbo 350 you don't want to come out of a burnout in 2nd especially if the tires bite. The 2nd gear sprag is the weakest link in those transmissions and tires biting after a burnout in 2nd will break it.

Yikes! I did not know that. When I had it at track back in October as soon as I hit second gear I rolled out. Can I do first, second and then as soon as I hit 3rd roll out?
