The Super Stock cams I have here are just regular looking LSM's. Now the Stocker cams are square. And serious lift and duration would surprise you.
That's what I remember using on our low RPM Pontiac 400 but a few big block Chevrolet and Cleveland Stocker guys softened the lobes for more RPM and it worked better.

A BBC S/S I worked on didn’t have overly aggressively lobes, 33*/36* M.I. IIRC. 2.0/1.9 rockers, Pac 1355H’s set up .100”ish from bind, usually ran 8900ish at the stripe when on kill.

May not have had an aggressive lobe but it had an aggressive lift curve with 2.0 rockers.
Yes - added a tick of gear, trapped at 9100 and started breaking springs.
Next step was to shorten the M.I. a little and add some spring rate, never got to try it though.

I shouldn't post this, but I did it and it's mine to share.

Scanned image of a 172cc Super Stock port. Edelbrock casting. Fully reworked. The thing that get's me going is the SSR. Notice it...

These engines are 355-358cid. They make 530-550tq and 660-680hp depending on combo and year.

This port has a 1.60in² MIN.. 2.02 valve.

The engines alone are example of efficiency.

What rpm do they make peak power at? What is max rpm they run?

Yea I cringe every time I slide a 11/32 Ferrea (even hollow stem) in the guide at 2.150 install with a 1355H spring. LOL..

This next engine is getting a 60mm core. That should be interesting..

Here is a set of Dart irons with 2.200.. Looks all spring!

Fantastic work there, makes my home done stuff look like child's work. Very impressive.

A ombo I was involved in was 272*/280* ~.780” at the valve, 106* in @ 102*

BBC small oval port 8.7-1 combo liked 290*/295* - .870” at the valve, 113* in @ 108*, a cam 12* shorter was down 22 hp

BBC rectangular port 10.5-1 combo was 277*//285* - .970” at the valve, 111* in at 109*

I guess with 440 lbs on the seat and 1220 open my guess on light springs is off a little, lol

What did you make for power with that 8.7 comp engine?
