Would there be any drawbacks to running leaf spring sliders on the street?
Aside from having and metal to metal contact and some noise maybe, would there
be anything else to worry about?

I'm trying to finish the minitub on the car, move the rear of the leafs in, and the sliders
would allow me to stick the rears of the leafs in between the frame rails and lower the
back of the car at the same time. I could also make spacers to move the sliders up/down
and control ride height on the rear - sounds like a great deal to me.

So any reason not to use then on a street car?
