Well there is this guy at our church who has some serious problems, wife sperated from him and kicked him out, has some medical issues, we think he blows some of it out of proportion, constatnly talking about how things are so unfare with his marital situation, has at least 5 digets in medical debt (no insurance) now the guy is talking about leaving the church and suicide, he is a manipulator and has some mental problems but I take suicide threats serious.

For at least 6 months he lived with a friend and had now job and lived with someone else for a bit. Now has a job and only working 2-3 days a week (all they are sceduling him) his liscence is suspended and allready got busted for it once, does not want to gt a second job. We all told him that he has 60 days in my house unless he loses his job and after that if he does not have his own place (has horrible credit) that he will be living in his car and after today I learned he is ok with living in his car. Nobody will lift a finger for him when it comes to a roof over his head after this. Did not work for two year untill about two weeks ago, can't really see his kids or anything. Local places are hiring that he would be perfect for and he does not want to apply.

I told my wife that if he threatens suicide again or mentions it I call the cops and if he looses his job because of it then all well, the guy needs help and Im not going to let my wife find him splatterd all oer the place.

Shot gun has mag slugs in it but now empty.

Am I being to harsh? I doubt it.

You're not being harsh - you've got to protect your own first. Do you really want yourself, your wife, or any family member around a guy who is threatening suicide? What if he tries to go through with it and you or your wife find it happening? If someone is willing to take their own life, they obviously won't have much regard for the life of someone who is intervening, if you know what I mean.

Time for the pros to step in. Leave it to them to determine if there are true psych issues or if this is extreme laziness. At least in Ohio, as I remember from 15 years of EMS work, there is a 72-hour psych evaluation hold that can be placed on anyone threatening suicide. I'd suspect that many hospitals in Indy have a ward with similar facilities.

Protect your family first.

Well, if he is mentally unstable, yes he needs some help. You need to call the proper authorities. If you kick him out, (whichever his case is) he may come back to harm either you, the family or your property. Your best bet at this point is to have him evaluated for the 72 hour holding period. (It's 72 in Illinois), im not sure what it is by you. Either way... He could be looking for sympathy too. If you continue to "give in" you're just looking for trouble. He needs to go. It's nice to lend a helping hand, but it sounds like you're gonna have your hands full reguardless. Good luck to you and be careful!

Profesional help is probably this guys only option.
Get him out before he does something stupid in your house or to your family.

Sounds like he's not at rock-bottom yet, but he's looking for it. Hopefully in that case it won't be at the end of a gun barrel. Maybe you should get his kid(s) to write him a letter. Might sober him up and get him off his ass. If his own kids don't give him incentive to quit feeling sorry for himself, then probably nothing can. Last resort, call the cops.

A friend's family is dealing with a similar issue, though it's drugs-related... prescription stuff that the guy has been abusing. They've been cutting him off for a while now, he's hitting bottom pretty soon. You can't help those who won't take it.

Im not worried about him harming my family, the kids writing a note would not help because thats a sore spot with himand I doubt his wife would let him.....

Today the train in my washer/drier room clogged and flooded a little and he decided not to tell me then just watched me clean up the water.

Talked to my parents and found out they offerd to pay for ALL of his counceling and pay for him to go to the Mayo Clinic and pay for the trip and everything and he still refused.... WOW!!!!!!!!!!

If he does not want to help with lawn work Saturday then I will say help or leave because Ill be getting off a 16 hours shift and doing it so he can after an 8 hour shift.

My patience is coming to an end. I can't clean up the house because I am driving him around so much, least he can do is do more then the dishes every now and then.

Ill keep you guys updated.

My neighbor is a cop, if I see him soon Ill talk to him.
