I had it done a couple years ago and I highly reccomend it. One thing though, when they tell you that you will feel a little pressure, well it's more than just a little. Not bad but more than I thought it would be, but I think they waited to long after they gave me the numbing agent.

I did it in 1995. I was at 13 diopters...that's 20/625 vision...so I had to find a moving train by touching it.

Right after surgery it was 20/30....thirteen years later it's 20/20.

And the technology is better now.......

I had the halos around street lights for about 5-6 months. NOT BAD THOUGH! The first month was bad, it looked like eight sets of headlights coming at me...but it was only one car. Everyone reacts different. And remember I had the PRK with is different from the LASIC.
As for the "surgery", you don't want to be knocked out. You stare at the little red dot while you lie there all doped up on valuum and they fire a laser at your eye. The machine uses the same technology that the fighter aircraft use for laser guided bombs...it follows your eye if it twitches or moves.
I didn't have a choice in which procedure I had done, but I'm VERY pleased with the results!

Do your research people. For the RIGHT person, its great. But, there are certain people, like my wife, whom have certain problems (astigmatism etc) that will require a do over in a short period (couple of years) of time..........at your expense. We have one of the best in the world in Windsor (Dr Tayfor) and he flat out told my wife, I can do it, but you'll have to have it redone again in a few years, and so on, and so on. Make sure your Dr. isn't just out for your money.

Some of the best money I ever spent. I've had glasses since I was 11. I got it done when I was 30. It's been four years and all is good. I have 20/15 vision now. The only issue I have is at night on a wet asphalt road. If a car comes the other way, the headlights are super intense. Other than that, no problems.

Jeff had monovision done last year. The actual procedure was not bad for him at all....no valium, the only thing he got was the anesthestic eyedrops. His eyes were a little "grainy" afterwards, he took 2 tylenol & slept for a few hours & was fine. Just make sure you do your research & get someone good (we used LASIK PLUS) and do everything they tell you to do & get lots of moisturizing drops for the eyes !!
