Has anyone used the Comp Cams tool (#5335) for installing keyway lifter bushings? If it works it's a lot less than buying a Jesel tool.

I have the same question, would love to hear some feedback. Or, has anyone rented the Jesel tool and inspected it, then made your own??

The mandrels for the Comp Cams tool are too short for a big block. I learned this the hard way, I bought one.

I rented the Jesel tool, used it, then copied it and made some very minor improvements. I was lucky to have the material and machine tools that was at my son's boat shop.

Unless you do a lot of this, or just have time and materials on your hands, it's hard to beat just renting the tool from Jesel. There may be a waiting list so call in advance.
