I run an 8mm kevlar belt on my 14-71. I get what is best described as "debris" from the belt, very thin shavings from the edge of the belt anytime I run it, even after just warming it up. Best I can tell it comes from where the back lip of the idler guides the belt. When running the belt is in constant contact with the rear lip of the idler with a small gap at the front lip. I put a rubber belt on it and I get no "debris".

Anyone else notice this with the kevlar belt?

i also run a 8mm Kevlar belt, driving my little 6.71 at 48% over, i dont get "shavings" but i do get black specks "debris" i guess, you could call it, not a lot but enough that i see it on my pump drive extention and top pulley. i have noticed if you run the belt to tight, i get more. The edges of my belt are fine and im running the same belt for the last 5 seasons!! i dont sweat it!
