This how I make it:

Soy sauce
regular sugar
Sliced beef, can use flank, sirloin, sliced thin
Chinese cabbage
And/or bean sprouts
And/or mushrooms
And/or tofu
And/or green peppers (not traditional)

I have been using a wok so once I have everything cut up, I heat up the wok and I typically use peanut oil since it won't burn as fast. I put in the hard veggies in first, they take longer to cook. I'll throw in the meat later, and then I add in 1/3 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup Mirin, and 4 tablespoons of sugar. I sometimes add a wee bit of water if it looks dry. I turn the heat down. From this point I season to taste. I cook it like this for 10 minutes or so, kinda keep an eye on it.

Traditional Sukiyaki usually has rice as a side dish. Sometimes a raw egg is beaten, put in a bowl, and used as a dipping sauce.
